Wed. Jan. 28, 2015 Highlights
Avon Tops #1 Loomis; Wood Ejected in Nobles Win

@ Avon Old Farms 5, Loomis-Chaffee 2 – After playing well but coming up short in a 3-2 loss to Westminster Monday, the host Winged Beavers came out flying against #1 Loomis, building a 4-1 lead after the first period en route to the 5-2 win. John Giatrelis (2g,1a) had three points for Avon; and Patrick Harper (1g,1a), Tyler Carangelo (1g,1a), Brendan Ashe (2a), and Ben Mirageas (2a) each had two. Tucker Weppner (28/30) earned the win; Tim Birarelli (20/25) took the loss.

@ Kimball Union 2, Exeter 2 – A Teddy Hart goal at 10:33 of the third lifted still-undefeated Exeter to a 2-2 tie with host Kimball Union today. Bobby Young and Ben Finkelstein scored for KUA, both in the first period, while Ben Solin scored #2 Exeter’s first goal, also in the first period. Bryan Botcher (30/32) and Peyton Porter (26/28) were the goaltenders.

@ Nobles 3, St. Sebastian’s 2 – St. Seb’s came out blazing and took a 2-0 first period lead on goals from Peter Mullin and Christian Reenstierna, but Nobles struck back with goals from Zach Janfaza and Cody Todesco in the final three minutes, tying the game at 2-2 heading into the first intermission. The game-winner, in a physical second period, came on a Pat Murray goal at 12:42. From there, the hosts held on. Nobles goaltender Brendan Cytulik (20/22) earned the win, while Danny Higgins (18/21) was the hard luck loser. The Arrows struggled on the power play, squandering 12 minutes of man-up play. Nobles’ Miles Wood was assessed a major/game misconduct for head-butting with five minutes left in the period. Nobles’ Murray got a major for cross-checking in the third. A Billy Carrabino penalty with 2:13 left in regulation gave St. Seb’s a chance to tie it up with the extra skater. For Nobles, Wood will miss Friday’s game vs. Rivers.

Choate 3 @ Trinity-Pawling 2 – Host T-P held a 2-0 lead halfway through the second, but the Wild Boars came back with goals from Nick Sanchez and Charley Borek to send it to the second intermission at 2-2. Borek scored the game-winner – and his second goal of the game – at 7:40 of the third. Sam Tucker (33/35) earned the win. Felix Marcotte-Hetu (25/28) took the loss.

Westminster 7 @ Deerfield 4 – Juniors Taggart Corriveau (4g,1a) and Johnny McDermott (1g,4a) led the charge with five points apiece.

Cushing 6 @ NMH 3 – Cushing broke out to a 4-0 lead and never looked back. Jack Carroll (2g,1a), David Cotton (1g,2a), and Jake Simons (1g,2a) led the Penguins attack. Goalies were recent Arizona State commit Joey Daccord (21/24), and Conor O/Brien (40/46).

Salisbury 1 @ Gunnery 0 – A Mike O’Leary goal in the first period, and a shutout from Bailey MacBurnie (28/28) was all Salisbury needed today. Both teams played a good, hard game. And both goalies, Salisbury’s MacBurnie and Gunnery’s Trevin Kozlowski (26/27) played well.

@ Berkshire 6, Hotchkiss 2 – Ryan Keelan (2g,2a) and Barclay Gammill (2g,2a) each had four points in the Bears win over the Bearcats. Spencer Cookson (24/26) picked up the win.

@ Kent 6, Taft 2 – Teddy Simson (1g,2a), Conor Landrigan (2g), and Greg Krisberg (2a) led the Lions. Peter Negron kicked out 25 of 27 for the win.

Tilton 2 @ New Hampton 1 (OT) – A Justin Goldman goal at 3:58 of OT lifted the Rams to victory. Alexander Gerasimenko (25/26) got the win.

@ Kingswood-Oxford 2, Pomfret 1 – Brendan Lantieri scored both of the Wyverns’ goals and Nick Bridges stopped 23 of 24 for the win. David Altman (33/35) was the hard-luck loser for Pomfret.

@ Williston 4, Millbrook 2JoJo Carbone (2g,1a), Jack Kelly (1g,1a), and Tyler Scroggins (1g,1a) led the Williston offense. Goalies were Owen Johansson (31/34) for Millbrook, and Shane Mason (26/28) for Williston.

Brewster Academy 3, Holderness 2 – Holderness kept it close, but Brewster never trailed in this one despite being outshot 38-24.  Kevin Lacroix (36/38) earned the win.
