Sat. Jan. 10, 2015 Highlights

@ Groton 3, Brooks 3 -- After junior D Ford Hatchett gave Brooks a 3-2 lead midway through the second, Groton senior Ace Cowans came back a little over four minutes later with a PPG tie it up at 3-3. It was Cowans' second goal of the game, and he also had an assist, figuring in all three of his team's goals. Both goalies, Brooks senior Max Prawdzik and Groton junior Matt Efros, kicked out 39 of 42 shots.

Taft 6 @ Avon Old Farms 4 -- Host Avon held a 2-0 lead after one, but let it get away as Taft scored five unanswered goals -- including a natural hat trick from senior Peter Straub in the second period. Senior Marcus Mollica had three assists for the Rhinos, and soph. Matteo Mangiardi had two goals. For Avon, Tyler Carangelo (2g,1a) had three points.

@ Milton 2, Tilton 1 -- A Jack Bliss goal with a second remaining in the second period lifted the Mustangs to a 2-1 win. Juniors Andrew Dumaresque (1g,1a) and Spencer Fox (2a) figured in both Milton goals. PG Connor Irving scored for Tilton. Senior Drew Hotte (20/21) got the win; Alexander Gerasimenko (33/35) was the hard-luck loser.

Exeter 6 @ St. Paul's 2 -- Exeter, now 12-0-0, never trailed in this one. Senior F Teddy Hart (2g,1a) and junior D Trevor Cosgrove (1g,1a) were the multiple-point scorers. Exeter outshot SPS 25-18.

@ BB&N 2, Middlesex 1 -- A PPG from senior Fuller Winton with 32 seconds left in the first period turned out to be the game-winner, as both goalies barred the door the rest of the way. BB&N junior Sihak Lee (27/28) got the win, while Middlesex junior Derek Goguen (23/25) took the loss.

@ Cushing 5, Kimball Union 1 -- Junior David Cotton had a hat trick and junior Bailey Conger (1g,2a) each had three points. Senior G Joey Daccord stopped 24 of 25 shots. Senior Jack McCarthy gave KUA, who carried the play in the first, an early lead, but the Wildcats were shut down after that. There were no goals in an even second period, and Cushing took over the game in the third.

@ Rivers 4, Proctor 2 -- Senior Joe Sacco (2g), and sophomores Michael Young (1g,1a), Brendan Hamblet (2a), and Charlie Lawerence (2a) led the way for Rivers. Freshman goalie Aidan Porter (21/23) got the win. Junior Jale Pappalardo (1g,1a) figured in both of Proctor's goals.

Andover 1 @ Choate 0 -- A goal from Colin Nugent at 14:24 of the third and the goaltending of senior co-captain Erik Wurman (30/30) was all Andover needed today as they improved to 5-5-1. Senior Sam Tucker stopped 17 of 18 in the Wild Boars' net, but his teammates couldn't get him any goals.

@ Loomis-Chaffee 4, Kent 1 -- Sophomores Justin Grillo (1g,2a) and Eric Esposito (2g) led the Pelicans attack and PG goaltender Tim Birarelli kicked out 17 shots for the win.

St. Mark's 2 @ Tabor 2  -- Juniors Nick Godin (1g,1a) and Ben Taylor (1g,1a) led the way for the Seawolves. Junior F Luke O'Brien scored both of St. Mark's goals. Both goalies, St. Mark's junior Ryan Ferland and Tabor senior Riley Whitham stopped 28 of 30.

@ New Hampton 3, Kents Hill 1 -- Host New Hampton got goals from three different scorers, and their sophomore goalie, Thomas McLarnon, kicked out 26 of 27 shots for the win.

Pingree 6, Moses Brown 3 -- In a game played at Brown University's Meehan Auditorium, Pingree, behind a hat trick from sophomore JT Chamberlain, three assists from sophomore D Christian Kukas, and a couple of goals from junior Mike Riley, defeated Moses Brown. The Quakers got a hat trick from senior Tyler Poland.

@ Gunnery 4, Winchendon 0 -- Senior D Nick Quillan (1g,2a) had three points and freshman goalie Zak Kinard posted a 14-save shutout. Winchendon sophomore G Josh George kicked out 43 of 47 in the loss. Gunnery has won nine of their last 10 games.

@ Westminster 6, Trinity-Pawling 3 -- Senior F Jack Fitzgerald (2g,1a) and sophomore D Jack Flanagan (3a) led the Westminster attack today.

St. George's 2 @ Pomfret 1 -- Junior F Nick Ambrozic (1g,1a) figured in both of St. George's goals. The game's goaltenders, Pomfret junior David Altman (28/30) and Dragons' junior Colin Seeley (27/28), each had strong outings.

@ Williston-Northampton 3, Berkshire 3 -- Host Williston held a 3-1 lead midway through the second, but couldn't hold it, as Berkshire came back with two goals early in the third, from senior Reid Lemker and sophomore Matt Koopman. Junior Spencer Cookson (31/34) was in net for Berkshire; junior Shane Mason (35/38) for Williston.

@ Hotchkiss 3, Millbrook 2 -- The host Bearcats held a 3-0 lead early in the second, but Millbrook junior F Luka Piccolo scored two goals to keep things interesting. Hotchkiss senior G L-P De Courcy (22/24) earned the win, while Millbrook soph Cole Hayward (25/28) suffered the loss.

Salisbury 4 @ Deerfield 2 -- Junior F Tom Lee had a pair of goals and seniors Sean McCarthy and Vimal Sukumaran each had one to lead Salsibury's attack. PG G Bailey MacBurnie (23/25) got the win; Deerfield senior Jake Kahler (23/27) took the loss. Since losing to Albany Academy on Dec. 17, Salisbury has won five in a row.

North Yarmouth Academy 3 @ Governor's 1 -- NYA junior F Josh Chapman broke a 1-1 tie at 12:06 of the third and added an empty-netter five minutes later. NYA soph Jeremy Thelven (23/24) got the win in net; Governor's senior Mack Burton (37/39) was the hard-luck loser.

@ St. Sebastian's 5, Belmont Hill 5 -- Senior Charlie McConnell (2g,1a) and sophomore Sam Hesler (2g) led the Bel Hill scorers. Senior Will D'Orsi (1g,2a), sophomore RJ Murphy (1g,1a) and junior Peter Mullin (1g,1a) led the Arrows.

Nobles 5 @ Thayer 3 -- Host Thayer held a 3-1 lead midway through the second period, but Nobles blitzed Thayer with three goals in under three minutes, the final a Miles Wood unassisted goal to put Nobles up 4-3 going into the the third. Nobles junior Mike Fahie sealed the deal with an ENG in the final minute of play. Nobles junior Brendan Cytulik (25/28) got the win; Thayer junior Mike Royer (20/24) took the loss.
