Our Thoughts and Prayers

The thoughts and prayers of the entire prep hockey community go out to Middlesex School goaltender Eileen Cauley, who lost her mom in a tragic house fire in Wellesley, Mass. Friday night. Carol Cauley, who was 55, was a mother of three, legally blind and had been battling multiple sclerosis for nearly a decade.  Eileen and her father returned from  the Middlesex-Rivers game Friday night to find the family house in flames, and a rescue attempt was unsuccessful. Because of Mrs. Cauley’s limited mobility, she had been unable to get herself out of the house, and was found near her wheelchair. Eileen was taken to the hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation. This tragedy is just so terribly hard to comprehend. Needless to say, today’s scheduled Middlesex at Thayer game has been postponed.

Our prayers also go out to the family of Lawrence Academy head coach Brooke Whitney, whose father died suddenly last weekend.

It’s been a very tough week for the girls prep hockey community, and we hope that everyone is able to find a degree of solace with their family, their faith, and their community.
