Wed. Dec. 11 Highlights
@ Berkshire 6, Gunnery 3 – Berkshire got goals from six different scorers to improve to 3-1-0. Shots were 27-27 but Berkshire senior George Blinick (24 saves) had a better day than Gunnery senior Matthew Schneider (22 saves).

@ Brooks 2, Middlesex 1 (OT) – Visiting Middlesex, on a first period goal from junior D Brian Powers, gave his team a lead which held up into the third period, when Brooks senior F Cam Patch tied it up with a PP goal. The game went to OT, where Brooks soph Vito Bavaro won it.  The goalies had a workout in this one as 6’3”, 160 lb. ’97 Max Prawdzik stopped 33 of 34 for the win; Middlesex 5’8” ’97 soph Derek Goguen was the hard-luck loser, stopping 34 of 36.

Groton 7 @ Roxbury Latin 0 – Junior Ace Cowans (1g,4a) and soph Matthew Winter (3g) led the attack. Groton outshot RL 36-18. Groton junior Matt Pompa stopped all 18 shots he faced.

@ KUA 8, Proctor 2 – Junior A.J. Greer (3g,2a) had a five-point game, while seniors Tyler Bird (2g,1a) and Joey Dudek (3a) each had three points for the Wildcats, who are undefeated at 4-0-1.

@ Kents Hill 5, Bridgton 4 – Senior Jared Cockrell had a hat trick to lead the Kents Hill attack.

St. Sebastian’s 4 @ BB&N 2 – Senior Nick Flanagan had a hat trick (the final goal was an empty-netter) to lead the Arrows. His linemates, senior Corey Ronan and junior Will D’Orsi, each had two assists. BB&N, which hit a couple crossbars and outshot St. Seb’s 25-16 could have won this one, but junior goaltender Danny Higgins held the fort, stopping 23 of 25.

@ Exeter 6, Winchendon 1 – Senior Cody Rorick (2g,3a) and junior Teddy Hart (1g,4a) each had five-point days, while PG Kevin Neiley (2g,2a) came out of his early-season slump, finding the range with a four-point effort. Senior G Jack Parson (19/20) got the win as Exeter improves to 8-1-0.

Avon 3 @ Taft 0 – Taft went up to Avon on Nov. 23 and returned home with a 3-1 win. The Winged Beavers got payback today, heading down to Taft and coming home with a 3-0 decision. Senior goaltender Cody Doyle had a 27-save shutout for Avon, while sophomore Liam Murphy (1g,1a) and senior Mac Carnes (1g,1a) each had two points. Taft junior G Joseph Lissak was the hard-luck loser in this one, coming up with 35 saves on 38 shots. That’s it for the season series between the two teams – it’s already over.

@ Millbrook 10, Portledge 2 – Senior Brett Supinski (2g,1a), junior Jacob Moreau (1g,2a), and junior Brett Barry (3a) led the Millbrook attack.

@ Trinity-Pawling 5, Albany Academy 1 – Senior co-captain Jason Lamot had two goals and senior goaltender Matthew Michals had 15 saves for Trinity-Pawling, which outshot Albany Academy 39-16. T-P improves to 3-0-0.

@ Portsmouth Abbey 11, St. Thomas More 0 – ’98 soph Josh Vertentes (4g,2a) led PA’s attack.

Cushing 7 @ Williston 3 – Cushing got goals from seven different scorers while junior G Joey Daccord stopped 31 of 34 for win. Williston junior Brandon Borges had two goals. Cushing improves to 5-1-0, their only loss coming against Dexter (idle today).

Deerfield 7 @ NMH 1 – Senior Trevor Yates had a six-point afternoon, scoring four goals (the last an empty-netter) and adding two assists. Senior Sam Lafferty (1g,3a) and senior Camil Blanchet (1g,2a) also had big days. The shots on goal were closer than the final score, with Deerfield holding a 37-32 edge. Deerfield junior goalie Jake Kahler (31/32) earned the win. The loss was the Hoggers first of the season.

@ Salisbury 7, Hotchkiss 1 – Senior Derek Barach had a hat trick, senior D Will Toffey had four assists, senior F Evan Smith had three assists, and junior F Matt Muzyka had a goal and an assist. Six of Salisbury’s seven goals came in the second period. Each team was assessed 10 penalties. Salisbury had a decided edge in shots, 40-17, and are now 4-0-0.

@ New Hampton 3, Tilton 0 – Senior G Tim Sestak led the way with a 22-save shutout.

@ Milton 5, Lawrence 1 – The Mustangs got goals from five different scorers.

@ Rivers 3, St. George’s 2 – At the first intermission, the visitors from St. George’s held a 2-1 lead, but senior Miles Gendron tied it for Rivers early in the second. Several minutes later, junior Joe Sacco put Rivers ahead 3-2. Rivers outshot St. George’s 43-11, but Dragons goalie Colin Seeley, a 5’8” ’98-born sophomore, stopped 40 shots.

@ Hill 2, Lawrenceville 1 (OT) – An overtime goal off the stick of junior Collin Wiercinski lifted the Hill to victory. Sophomore goaltender Jake Cerello (16/17) earned the win. 

@ Belmont Hill 4, Governor’s 1 – Senior Matt Melanson had a SHG and an assist and sophomore Brian Matthews had a goal and an assist to lead the Hillies.

@ Westminster 4, Choate 1Sophs Taggart Corriveau (1g,2a) and J.P. Schuhlen (1g,2a) each had three points, and junior Jack Fitzgerald scored two goals to lead the Martlets’ offense. Senior G Zac Hamilton (24/25) earned the win. For Westy (1-3-0), it was their first win of the season, while for Choate (3-1-0) it was their first loss.

@ Pingree 5, Moses Brown 4 – The visitors from Moses Brown held a 4-1 lead after two but Pingree woke up in the third with a four-goal period. Senior F Brandon Franco’s second goal of the game – and period – was an unassisted effort that tied the game at 4-4 with 4:04 left. Sophomore D Matt Cavanaugh notched the game-winner with 1:35 left on the clock.

@ Nobles 9, Tabor 5 – A five-goal third period allowed host Nobles to pull away and remain undefeated at 3-0-0. Junior Miles Wood (2g,4a) had a six-point afternoon. Sophomore Michael Fahie (2g,1a) and junior Cody Todesco (1g,2a) each had three points. Junior Cal Burke (1g,1a) and senior D J.C. Brassard (1g,1a) each had two points. For Tabor, senior Fred Kaub (1g,2a), soph Erik Foley (2g), and senior D Trey Palczynski (2a) led the attack.

Loomis 3 @ Pomfret 1 – Junior Alex Esposito led the Pelicans with two goals.

@ Kent 5, Brunswick 2 – Brunswick outshot Kent, 41-32, but Kent senior G Stephen Morrissey (39/41) came up big for his team, which relied on a balanced attack, getting goals from five different scorers.

@ Berwick 10, NYA 1 – Berwick outshot NYA 51-18 and ten different players had multiple points. Chris Michaud (1g,2a) and Cam Toohey (3a) each had three points. The following players all had two points: Lucas Michaud (2g), Alex Hopkins (2g), Connor Ronan (1g,1a), Drew Hale (1g,1a), Conor Tully (1g,1a), Emile Lebel (1g,1a), Liam Darcy (2a), and Garrett McDonald (2a).
