Sat. Jan. 2 Tournament Scoreboard
E.G. Watkins/Cushing Tournament (Day 2 of 3; @ Ashburnham, Mass.):
NMH and Gunnery to Battle for Championship Sunday
Culver 5, Canterbury 4 -- Culver got goals from five different scorers. Stephen Servideo (1g, 2a) had three points for Canterbury. Nick Kulmanovsky picked up the win in the Culver net.
Northwood 2, Gunnery 1 (OT) -- Chris Roll, son of Clarkson head coach George Roll, scored 57 seconds into OT to give Northwood the win. Gunnery, on a first period goal by Joey Fiori, held a 1-0 lead until Northwood's Zach Popp tied it up with 2:57 in the third, forcing OT. Raphael Girard got the win in the Northwood net.
Pomfret 6, Lawrence 6 (Lawrence wins shootout, 3-2) -- This was a back-and-forth affair. LA led 3-1 about ten minutes into the first, but allowed Pomfret back in it. The teams entered the third period tied at 4-4. Lawrence went up 6-4 on goals by Tyler Whitney and Michael Jamieson. But Pomfret came back and tied it up on a pair of late goals 17 seconds apart off the sticks Garrett White and Ray Zeek. However, after an OT period, Lawrence won it in a shootout. Mac Haight (LA) and Sam Gifford (Pomfret) were in net.
Northfield-Mt. Hermon 6, Cushing 0 -- NMH broke open a 0-0 game with four strikes in the second period, and a couple more in the third. Cushing took four penalties in this game to NMH's one. And NMH's power play, which is extremely potent (and features five forwards on one unit and four on the other), cashed in on three of those four opportunities. NMH got goals from six different scorers. Branden Komm picked up the shutout win for the Hoggers. Marcus Calvanico played the first two periods in the Cushing net (4 ga); Chad Hardy came in for the third (2 ga). With the win, Northfield clinched a spot in Sunday's championship game (3:30 pm).
Northwood 5, Canterbury 2 -- Tommy Fiorentino had a pair of goals for Northwood. Chris Powers had a goal and an assist. Raphael Girard was in goal.
Gunnery 4, Culver 1 (final) -- Adam DeSanctis, Matt Milana, Shane Gorman, and Terrence Wallin each scored a goal for Gunnery. Alex Vazzano got the win. And Gunnery, via a tie-breaker, advances to Sunday's championship game against Northfield-Mt. Hermon (3:30 pm)

St. Sebastian's 1, Tilton 0 -- A second half goal by freshman Tom Kelley and the shutout goaltending of sophomore Gordon Donnelly was the story in this one. Matt Mosca allowed just the one goal in the Tilton net.
Tabor 3, Hill 2 (OT) -- A Cam Spiro power play goal with 1:50 remaining in overtime lifted host Tabor to victory. The Seawolves had a 2-0 lead late in the first half, but allowed Hill to come back and tie things up, forcing OT. Mark Meads (1g,1a) and Timothy Shea (1g,1a) each had two points for Tabor; Marcello DeAngelis (2a) had likewise for Hill. Robert Kang (Tabor) and Steve Messina (Hill) were the goaltenders.
Milton 4, Tilton 1 -- Jonathan Mleczko, with a goal and two assists, led Milton's attack. The win clinched a spot in Sunday's championship game for the Mustangs. They will face the winner of tonight's Tabor vs. St. Seb's game.
