@ Deerfield 5, Westminster 2 -- Westy (4-8-1) tied the game at 2-2 early in the third, but a pair of powerplay goals from Deerfield juniors Nate Watson and Matteo Alvarez, who also had an empty-netter, put a third straight win on ice for the #6 Big Green (11-4-0). Watson scored twice and added an assist to lead all point-getters. In goal, junior Elliot Lennon (26/28) earned the win; Westy senior Jack Fitchthorn (26/30) took the loss.
@ Pomfret 7 @ Austin Prep 1 -- Pomfret juniors Will Norton (2g,1a) and Ian Sherman (1g,2a); and senior Timothy Russell (1g,2a) led the way. In net, Griffins senior Max Hausman (17/18) had a strong outing. Pomfret (12-5-2) has won five straight.
@ Tilton 3, New Hampton 1 -- A burst of three goals in three minutes late in the second period -- two of which came from Tilton post-grad Cam Fahey -- was all the Rams (13-4-1) needed to get past New Hampton (7-12-2). Fahey's goals were separated by just 13 seconds. Between the pipes, junior Matt Wood (31/32) was excellent. NHS junior Sam Zygulski (26/29) took the loss.
Loomis Chaffee 4 @ Avon Old Farms 3 -- In the first game between Loomis and Avon since Dartmouth commit Indiana Grossbard left the Pelicans for the Winged Beavers, LC pulled off the upset against #1 AOF. Senior Gennaro Pompano scored twice for the victors and senior goalie Luke Quinn (37/40) earned the win in net. Grossbard did score against his former mates, on the PP with five minutes left, but it was too late. Loomis (5-9-1) had entered the game on a four-game slide. Avon (11-3-0) had won eight straight.
@ Groton 5, BB&N 1 -- After the Zebras and Knights entered the third period in a 1-1 deadlock, Groton (11-6-0) exploded for four third-period goals -- including a shorty and an ENG -- to top BB&N (3-14-0). Sophomore Nate Moons (1g,2a) and freshman Brooks Lytle (1g,1a) led the way. In net, junior Wes DiModica (14/15) picked up the win.
Canterbury 4 @ Albany Academy 3 -- Canterbury senior Ryan Lucarelli, a Sacred Heart commit, came up with the game-winner with less than eight minutes to go, lifting the Saints (9-6-4) to a come-from-behind win. Earlier in the third, Lucarelli assisted classmate Jake Pomichter on the game-tying goal. Each finished the day with a goal and two assists. The Saints are unbeaten over their last nine games, going 6-0-3.
Dexter 9 @ St. George's 1 -- #10 St. George's (11-6-1) entered the day hoping to re-enter the Elite 8 picture. Instead, #2 Dexter -- powered by BU commit Rian Chudzinski's hat trick and a 20/21 effort from junior goalie Colin Davis -- delivered what could be the knockout blow to those hopes. Seven Dexter skaters tallied multiple points, while the Dragons didn't score until junior Ryan Magaletta found the back of the net with six minutes left. Since Dexter (15-2-0) lost to Cushing on Jan. 5, they have rattled off seven straight wins.
@ Thayer 4, Tabor 1 -- Tabor (9-7-1) got on the board early, on a first-period goal from sophomore Ethan Travis, but Thayer scored the next four, the last an empty-netter, to improve to 11-6-1. Seniors Mason Shea (2g) and Tommy Anderson (1g,1a), the Tigers' top scorers, each chipped in with two points. In net, junior Tyler Moscella (17/18) earned the win; Tabor soph Vinnie D'Urso (23/26) took the loss.
Andover 4 @ Winchendon 1 -- Andover junior Danny Collins scored twice and added an assist as the Big Blue, 2-4-1 over its seven prior games, got back on the right foot. Senior goalie Chase Anderson (34/35) bounced back from a recent slump. Junior goalie Brady Knode (21/25) took the loss for Winchendon (9-10-1). Andover improves to 10-5-3.
Cushing 6 @ Northfield Mount Hermon 3 -- Five different Penguins, led by sophomore forward Chase Warsofsky (2g) tallied multiple points. Junior goalie Maksim Corovic (23/26) picked up the win. Look out for the Penguins, who are firing on all cylinders as the home stretch approaches. Cushing (12-6-1) has won three of four and seven of 10. NMH, meanwhile, has just two wins in its last eight tries. The Hoggers are 5-11-1.
Taft 4 @ Kent 2 -- Taft senior Matt Lemay scored twice and his classmate, Tufts-bound goalie Brady Morris made 33 saves on 35 shots. Holy Cross commit Noah Jettelson and Harvard commit Jason Rothstein were responsible for the other Rhino goals. Taft (9-4-2) is unbeaten in its last six games and hitting its stride. Kent, which today saw its Harvard-bound goalie Jacoby Weiner stop 19 of 23 shots, has had a seesaw 9-7-1 season.
Salisbury 4 @ Frederick Gunn 2 -- Salisbury senior Oliver Morris broke a 2-2 tie with a PPG nearly five minutes into the third, and his goal stood up as the game-winner for the Crimson Knights. Senior teammate Connor Davis added an ENG in the final minutes. In the blue paint, junior Jordan Rittenberg (27/29) picked up the win. Gunn senior Alfie Blakeley (39/42) saw plenty of rubber in the loss. #7 Salisbury (11-4-3) hasn't lost since Jan. 3rd, ten games ago.
@ Williston Northampton 5, Millbrook 1 -- Williston post-grad Teddy Devoe scored twice, pacing the Wildcats (6-11-1) en route to their second win in three games since snapping a five-game skid. Fraser Smith, Williston's PG goalie, turned aside 29 of the 30 shots sent his way. Senior G Dean Repaci (33/37) took the loss for Millbrook (8-12-0), now losers of five straight.
Hotchkiss 2 @ Berkshire 1 -- Despite being outshot 53-16, Hotchkiss (5-8-0) snuck two past Berkshire senior Kyle Bolduc and handed the Bears (14-4-0) a second straight loss. Bearcats' senior G Connor Towle, a Holy Cross commit, turned in a 52-save masterpiece. Bearcats senior Dylan Ah Now scored in the first. Sophomore Justin L'Abbe potted the game-winner, breaking a 1-1 tie in the waning minutes of the second. Bolduc (14/16) took the loss.
Kents Hill 4 @ NYA 2 -- Kents Hill (9-7-2) senior forward Felix-Antoine Parenteau (2g,1a) and his classmate, d-man Thomas Lacroix (1g,1a), led the scorers and junior goaltender Tristan Bourassa kicked out 30 shots. NYA (9-13-1) senior Adrian Mendoza assisted on both his team's goals.
@ Trinity-Pawling 6, Choate 3 -- The Pride, led by five multi-point scorers, is 5-1-1 over its last six games after it handled Choate (5-9-1) on home ice. T-P senior Liam Lefebvre, a Vermont commit who's quietly putting together one of prep hockey's best seasons (2.13 points per game), scored once and added two helpers. Classmate Gauvin Ludovik notched three assists. Senior goalie Ondrej Matousek (30/33) earned the win. Trinity-Pawling has clawed back to .500 at 7-7-1. Save for the shortened COVID year, T-P hasn't finished with a winning record since 2017-18.
@ Holderness 8, Brewster 1 -- After a scoreless first, # 9 Holderness (12-3-1) came out of the first intermission with a vegeance. The Bulls scored five times in the second and never looked back en route to a bashing of lowly Brewster (2-13-0). Senior Eli Chilicki (2g,1a) and junior Henry Prowse (1g,3a) led the way, but 14 Holderness skaters had their names etched on the scoresheet.
@ Rivers 4, Roxbury Latin 0 -- Rivers junior goalie Derrick Huang logged an 18-save shutout, while classmate Justin Graf led the charge with a goal and an assist. Of note, for just the second time in the new year, Red Wings' freshman Carter Meyer did not score. He did tally an assist. He's in a tie with Nobles' junior Billy MacAusland at the top of the prep leaderboard. Rivers is 10-5-1. RL is 8-7-1.,
@ Governor's 2, Lawrence 1 -- Two second-period goals, from senior Ian Crowley (a PPG) and sophomore Robbie Daley, proved enough to help Gov's (10-6-2) eke past LA (5-9-1). This was a goaltender's battle: Governor's senior Zach Ericson (29/30) outdueled his Lawrence counterpart Kolin Belliveau (24/26). The Spartans did score, but sophomore Matas Janulis's PPG in the third was too little, too late. Lawrence had its three-game win streak snapped.
@ Kimball Union 5, Exeter 0 -- KUA senior Blake McMeniman -- the favorite for prep hockey's Goaltender of the Year? -- bolstered his case with a 21-save shutout, and the #4 Wildcats (16-4-2) blanked Exeter (8-10-1). Five different KUA skaters tickled the twine, but junior Jackson Davies (1g,2a) was the only one to notch three points. Exeter junior goalie Brenan Petraco (38/43) suffered the loss.
@ St. Mark's 4, Middlesex 1 -- Senior goaltender Cassidy Kittredge kicked out 19 shots, and junior Evan Nee (2g) and senior Drew Carr (1g,1a) led the scorers. With the win, the Lions ran their unbeaten streak to 13 games (11-0-2). The last -- and only -- time St. Mark's was beaten was in the third game of the season, a 4-1 decision at Winchendon.
@ Vermont Academy 1, Proctor 1 (OT) -- Vermont (5-15-1) and Proctor (6-13-1) entered the day's action on losing streaks of six and four games respectively. Something had to give, right? Wrong. The two teams settled for a tie. VA went up on a first-period goal from senior Lucas Sinacola, and Proctor junior Colin Maher tied it up in the third. The heroes in this one were the goalies, Proctor senior Brodie Farren (38/39) and VA junior Jake Hedman (43/44).
@ Pingree 4, Worcester Academy 1 -- Proctor (9-8-1) senior Joe Gaffney (3a) and soph Danny Patch (2g) led the attack, and freshman backstop Max Levine-Stein kicked out 19 of the 20 shots he faced as Pingree improved to 9-8-1. WA fell a game under .500 at 7-8-0.
@ Noble & Greenough 8, St. Sebastian's 3 -- Nobles' junior Billy MacAusland, tied at the top of prep scoring with Rivers' freshman Carter Meyer with identical 22-18-40 lines, had a four-point day (3g,1a). Nobles' other top gun, senior Kyle O'Leary, a Yale recruit, had a three-point day (1g,2a). Freshman goalie Justin Lee kicked out 23 of 26 shots for the win. Over its last six games, Nobles is 5-0-1. Seb's, a young team, is 0-4-2. Nobles improves to 11-5-1 Seb's falls to 4-9-3.
@ Berwick 4, Hebron 3 -- Berwick freshman Tucker Montecalvo, assisted by sophomore Reed Kenney, scored the game-winner, a shorty, midway through the third period. Hebron junior Matteo Pani (1g,2a) figured in all Hebron goals. Berwick (6-12-1) had a 5-6-1 record on January 4th, but had lost six in a row before today's action. Hebron is having a rough go of it at 1-17-0.
@ Belmont Hill 4, Brooks 2 -- Sophomore David Bosco (1g,2a), and juniors Jake Tavares (1g,1a) and Patrick Woods (1g,1a) led the way for the Sextants, now 11-3-2. Brooks, having lost five of its last six, falls to 5-8-2.
