T-P Ties Up Salisbury; Taft Puts a Scare into Loomis

Loomis 6 @ Taft 4
-- #1-ranked Loomis held a 5-0 lead over Taft going into the third period, but the Rhinos came out with a charge, scoring four consecutive goals -- led by a hat trick from sophomore Matteo Mangiardi -- in under nine minutes to put a scare into the visitors. Senior Ben Sharf (1g,2a) led the Loomis scorers. Loomis outshot Taft 32-29. The Pelicans are now 14-1-0.

Exeter 5 @ Tabor 1 -- #2 Exeter moved to 15-0-0 as the senior line of Andy Espinoza (2g), Stanley Brenner, (1g,1a), and Max Roche (1g,1a) each had two points. So, too, did junior D Trevor Cosgrove (1g,1a).

@ Westminster 5, Canterbury 1 -- Senior Jack Fitzgerald (2g,1a), and juniors Taggart Corriveau (2g), and Kevin O'Leary (1g,1a) led the charge for Westminster. Junior Nick Sanford (15/16) got the win.

@ Choate 2, Berkshire 1 (OT) -- A goal from sophomore D Billy Overby -- his first of the year -- at 3:57 of overtime gave the Wild Boars the win. Choate senior Andrew Tucci (27/28) and Berkshire junior Spencer Cookson (33/35) had strong games between the pipes.

Cushing 7 @ Thayer 2 -- Cushing senior Stephen Marsico had a hat trick (the third goal was an empty-netter) and an assist to lead the Penguins past Thayer. Junior Ty Amonte (1g,1a) and senior Lincoln Griffin (2a) had a hand in both Thayer goals. Cushing actually had two ENG in this one, as coach Tony Amonte pulled Mike Royer for the extra skater at the start of the third period and again at the end. While the score would indicate that Cushing dominated Thayer, that's not quite true. Thayer outshot Cushing, 40-32. But Joey Daccord (38 saves) was the better goalie, and #3 Cushing improves to 14-1-2 in NEPSIHA play.

Hotchkiss 3 @ Kent 1 -- A third-period power play goal from junior Will Somers broke the 1-1 deadlock, and senior Tim Allen added an empty-netter. Hotchkiss senior Louis-Philippe De Courcy (32/33) got the win and Kent junior Jackson Norris (36/38) was the hard luck loser.

@ St. Sebastian's 4, Andover 2 -- Senior Will D'Orsi (1g,1eng, 1a) and sophomore RJ Murphy (1g,2a) led the attack and senior G Danny Higgins (21/23) did the rest. Andover's Rob Bakerian was called for a hit from behind and given a five minute major and a game misconduct at 1:49 of the first.

Kimball Union 4 @ Deerfield 2 -- With the two teams tied 1-1 in the third, KUA went on a binge, striking for three straight goals in under two minutes. PG Oscar Flory (17/19) got the win. The #8 Wildcats improved to 15-4-0.

Pomfret 2 @ Worcester Academy 1 (OT) -- Junior F Christian Figliola scored his first goal of the season at 2:04 to lift Pomfret to the OT win. Pomfret senior Carlin Testa and Worcester junior Jack Moore (26/28) were strong in net.

Trinity-Pawling 3 @ Salisbury 3 --  The two teams traded goals throughout the game, but the final one, which allowed Salisbury to escape with the tie, came from junior Tom Lee who, with goalie Nick Sorgio pulled for the extra skater and 52 seconds on the clock, found the back of the net. #4 Salisbury outshot T-P 37-17. Senior Felix Marcotte-Hetu had 34 saves for T-P.

@ Albany Academy 5, Hoosac 2 -- PG Tyson Araujo had a hat trick and sophomore Josh Sanchez and senior Nick Boyagian each had two points to lead the Cadets attack. Junior Giancarlo Ventre kicked out 36 of 38 for the win.

Roxbury Latin 5 @ Middlesex 3 -- Roxbury Latin got goals from five different scorers and sophomore goalie Bryan McGrath (19/22) got the win.

St. George's 3 @ BB&N 2 -- Host BB&N had a 2-0 lead late in the second, but St. George's scored the next three. The GWG was scored by sophomore Toby Almeida. Dragons junior G Colin Seely (20/22) got the win.

@ Avon 5, NMH 3 -- Senior Chase Zieky had a hat trick and junior Jamie Armstong (1g, 2a) and soph Patrick Harper (3a) each had three points to lead the Winged Beavers to their third straight win.

Gunnery 9 @ Millbrook 4 -- Gunnery had three power play goals, a SHG from junior Cam Donaldson, and a penalty shot score from senior Jake Marrello to account for five of their goals today. Marello (1g,3a) led all scorers with four points. Shawn Knowlton, Donaldson, Josh Gagne and D Nick Quillan each had three points. #5 Gunnery improves to 14-4-0.

@ New Hampton 3, Berwick 0 -- The hosts had goals from three different players and sophomore Thomas McLarnon stopped all 19 shots he faced.

@ St. Mark's 6, Holderness 2 -- Senior Adam Lee (1g,3a), and juniors Zach Tsekos (1g,2a), Luke O'Brien (2g), Derek Osik (2g) and Tyler Rogers (2a) led the Lions' attack. Junior Ryan Ferland kicked out 20 of 22 shots. The #10 Lions extend their unbeaten streak to eight games. O'Brien was taken from the game with 2:48 remaining in the second period after a hit to the head.

Proctor 4 @ Groton 1 -- This was a 2-1 game inside the final two minutes when Proctor notched a pair of  empty-netters. Senior Connor Fries and junior Jake Pappalardo each had two goals. It was a goalies game; senior Beau Collins (35/36) got the win; junior Matt Efros (37/39) took the loss.

@ Portsmouth Abbey 1, Pingree 1 -- Senior Harrison Wall scored with a minute to go and the goalie pulled for the extra attacker to lift PA to the tie at home. Soph Bailey Strangis (39/40) was in net for Portsmouth Abbey; senior Chris Devito (21/22) for Pingree.

@ Nobles 5, St. Paul's 3 -- This was a 4-3 game after SPS senior Austin Ricci scored a SHG with 2:14 left in regulation. St. Paul's pulled goalie Nathan Colannino for the extra skater and Luke Stevens scored an ENG with nine seconds on the clock to salt it away and extend Nobles' winning streak to seven games. The #6 Bulldogs are now 11-3-1. Ricci had a hat trick for St. Paul's and led all scorers in the game.

@ Dexter 2, Kents Hill 0 -- Senior Ryan Donato and junior Patrick Daly scored for Dexter and senior goalie Nick Lannie (18/18) earned the shutout. Junior Billy McLaughlin (36/38) was the hard-luck loser.

@ Brooks 1, Rivers 1 -- With the game tied 0-0 early in the third Rivers senior F Joe Sacco scored at the 4:05 mark. Brooks junior F Paul Cappozzi tied it up just 28 seconds later and that's the way it ended. Senior Max Prawdzik (22/23) was in net for Brooks; and freshman Aidan Porter (20/21) for Rivers. #9 Brooks is now 11-1-3.
