Sat. Jan. 14 Highlights
@ KUA 5, Tabor 3: Junior Jake Landry and senior Elie Vered each scored two goals and Kimball Union held off Tabor, 5-3. KUA junior Eric Bogart’s 17 saves were enough to pick up the win in net.

@ Deerfield 4, Trinity-Pawling 2: Down 2-0 late in the second period, Deerfield woke up and scored four unanswered goals to beat T-P 4-2 at home. Juniors Alex Gonye (1g, 2a) and Jordan Jancze, and sophomore Trevor Yates (3a) keyed the comeback for the hosts.

Albany Academy 3 @ Canterbury 1: Albany Academy made it seven in a row with a 3-1 win at Canterbury. Albany senior and leading scorer Tyler Hynes assisted on each of his team’s three goals. PG goalie Aaron Hebert made 27 saves to help overcome a 28-16 shot advantage for Canterbury.

Kent 4 @ Avon 3: Kent – a team that has underachieved following last year’s championship game loss to Milton – went to Avon and came away with a 4-3 win. This is the type of win that could really turn the season around for the Lions, who improve to 5-5-1. Star forwards Ryan Rosenthal (2g) and Boo Nieves (2a) keyed the Kent offense. Avon suffers their first loss of 2012 and falls to 9-3-1 on the year.

@ Salisbury 4, Westminster 1: A David Hallisey goal with 1:04 remaining spoiled Justin Nichols’ shutout bid, but Salisbury still came away with a 4-1 win over Westminster. Salisbury displayed its superior depth as nine different skaters recorded points. This was Salisbury’s second 4-1 win over Westminster this season, the first coming at the Flood-Marr.

@ Nobles 5, Proctor 4: Nobles needed two third period goals to avoid a post-Lawrence letdown against Proctor. Though the shots were 59-24 in favor of the hosts, Proctor sophomore Merrick Madsen kept his team in it with 54 saves. 8th grader Colin White’s powerplay goal with 6:47 remaining was the difference, and senior Max Franklin’s (2g, 1) three points led the Nobles offense. Senior Brad Prevel had two goals for Proctor.

@ Holderness 2, Northfield-Mt. Hermon 2: Holderness and NMH skated to a 2-2 tie. Shots were 40-30 NMH, but Holderness senior netminder Andrew Munroe turned aside 38 shots to help his team pick up the point. Senior Brandon Bete had both goals for NMH.

@ St. Mark’s 3, Rivers 2: Senior Brett Lawson’s two third period goals helped St. Mark’s recover from their loss at Middlesex and get the win against Rivers. St. Mark’s junior Tanner McPhee kicked out 26 of 28 shots to earn the win. Junior captain Patrick Young (1g, 1a) figured in both of Rivers’ goals.

@ St. Paul’s 4, St. Sebastian’s 1: Junior Michael Pinios (33 saves) backstopped St. Paul’s to a 4-1 home win over St. Sebastian’s. St. Seb’s has dropped four of its last five after going undefeated in the season’s first seven contests.

Belmont Hill 2 @ Governor’s 2: Belmont Hill scored two goals in the last 1:10 to steal a point at Governor’s. With David Cunningham (37 saves) on the bench in favor of an extra attacker, junior forward Carl Hesler scored with just 17 seconds remaining to tie the game. Shots were 39-37 in favor of Governor’s.

@ Exeter 5, Andover 3: Junior forward John Cross’ hat-trick led the way as Exeter beat rival Andover 5-3. Exeter post-grad Matt Beattie dished out four assists for the hosts, who pushed their record to 12-1-1, and are unbeaten since Dec. 4. Shots were 39-25 Exeter.

@ Choate 4, Taft 2: Princeton recruit Ben Foster had a pair of goals -- including the game-winner, a powerplay tally at 11:19 of the second period.

Hotchkiss 5 @ Loomis 3: Swedish PG Victor Lindstrom (3g,1a), sophomore Tyler Hill (1g,3a), and junior Hayden Lowry (3a) led the way for the Bearcats.

@ Berkshire 6, Williston 3 -- PG Henry Corcoran notched a hat trick for Berkshire. Junior D Quin Pompi (3a) and senior Brendan McGovern (2a) were big contributors too.

@ Millbrook 5, Pomfret 2: PG captain Penn Sednaoui scored the game-winner with 37 seconds left in the second period.

@ Groton 4, St. George's 4: Host Groton took a 3-0 lead, but then allowed four straight unanswered goals by St. George's. A third-period goal by senior Mike Doherty allowed Groton to escape with a 4-4 tie. Junior Cam DiSarcina scored a pair for Groton.
