Updates From Quarterfinals

Open Tournament:

Milton 4, Nobles 3 (3-OT) (final)  Merenich from Hudson on game-winner at 4:11 of the third OT. Two Nobles goals were waved off in OT play. Some observers felt one was a legit goal; some felt both -- or neither -- were. Both goalies were excellent, but Maher, a soph, almost stole one for Nobles. Milton had the edge in shots, 72-49.

Kent 3, KUA 2 (OT) (final)  MacPhee scores his second goal of the game, on a breakaway, to win it in OT.

Salisbury 7, Cushing 2 (final)  Salisbury put on a clinic, getting goals from six different scorers and outshooting Cushing 39-17.

Lawrence 2, Avon 1 (final) -- Hunkele from Cerretani and Griffin with 1:50 left in regulation gives LA the win.

Large School Tournament:

Governor's 7, NMH 3 (final)  Minter and Sullivan each scored a pair of goals. Gov's led 2-0 after 1, and 5-0 after 2.

Belmont Hill 3, St. Sebastian's 2 (2-OT) (final)  Gustin from McNally and Vesey with 3:42 left in 2nd OT. Power play goal. St. Seb's called for too many men on the ice. Cunningham and Donnelly both excellent in net.

Albany Academy 2, Berkshire 1 (final)  Hynes scores game-winner with 39 seconds left in regulation.

Westminster 5, Brunswick 3 (final) -- Westminster got goals from five different scorers.

Small School Tournament:

New Hampton 5, South Kent 4 (OT) (final) -- Gorman roofs a backhander to win it in OT as #8 upsets #1.

Gunnery 5, Groton 4 (OT) (final) -- Nilsson ends it at 6:32 of OT.

Tilton 4, Hebron 1 (final)  Hebron held a 1-0 lead until over midway through the second when O'Brien tied it up for Tilton. Larson scored a pair of goals three minutes apart in the third -- the game-winner and an insurance goal.

Dexter 3, Pomfret 2 (OT) (final) Yet another OT game. Rinkus scoes game-winner for Dexter at 14:05.

Note: Six of the 12 games today went to overtime (two went to multiple OTs). Of the remaining six games, one was decided with 1:50 left (Lawrence 2, Avon 1),  and one was decided with 39 seconds left (Albany Academy 2, Berkshire 1).
