Today at Marion, Mass., host Tabor took a 2-0 first period lead, but Phillips Exeter came back with three goals in the second and held on for a 4-2 win.The Seawolves went up 1-0 when junior Tim Shea corralled a loose puck in the crease and made a nice goal mouth pass across to sophomore Mark Meads, who knocked it past Exeter junior goalie Max Fenkell at the 5:18 mark.
Tabor, on the power play, made it 2-0 at 16:26 of the first when junior defenseman Andrew Latta one-timed one from the point, the puck deflecting off an Avon defenseman on the way through. Fenkell had no chance.
Exeter struck quickly in the second, getting on the board with a power play goal just 48 seconds in, with senior d-man Jeff Reppucci making a nice play across to senior Nick Kondiles, who tapped it past Seawolves senior goalie Nick Betti.
Then senior Dan Weiniger went to work, tying the game while shorthanded from a scramble in front, and then coming right back with a 5-on-3 tally to put Exeter up, 3-2, which is where things stood after two periods.
Tabor thought they had tied it up in the third when Latta appeared to have beaten Fenkell on a breakaway. Latta thought he had a goal, threw up his arms in celebration – and proceeded to bowl over the referee, taking him right out of position to make the call. The shot may have crossed the line. The puck was in Fenkell’s body – he’d flopped back and smothered the puck. Basically, it was just hard for anyone, much less the referee, to make the call. So…no goal.
Tabor continued to press hard, but couldn’t tie the game up.
Exeter senior defenseman Tommy Larkin added an empty-netter with four seconds left.
The game lacked crispness, and was a bit on the sloppy side.
Weiniger played well for Exeter – he could have had three in the second, as he also rang one off the crossbar. Reppucci, a smart, smallish player, had a good game, too. PG Matt Hatch worked hard. Fenkell had a good game, kicking out 41 shots of 43 shots – Exeter had 28 shots on Betti.
For Tabor, senior Jayson Megna appears to be their most creative forward. Sophomore forward Cam Spiro, from Hingham High, showed a nice pair of mitts. Latta and junior d-man Derek Henderson were solid on the Seawolves blue line.

12/19/08 Updated Friday Dec. 19 Update
Because of the snowstorm coming tomorrow afternoon, two schools, St. Mark's and Middlesex will be sending students home early, and thus their teams cannot play in the Harrington Tournament. With six teams remaining
and with the potential weather problems, there are schedule changes to report.
The tournament now consist of a six team round robin in which each team still plays three games, each against different opponents. Here is the revised schedule - please note that the Pomfret-Nobles game will be played at St. Sebastian's in order that all of tomorrow's games can be squeezed in before the storm hits.
-- Please note the revised schedule for the Odden Tournament.
-- Friday a.m. update: Thayer will not be traveling to the Howard Tournament at St. George's, so the two games involving them have been canceled. As of 9:30 am, all other games at George's are on schedule.
Please send any schedule changes and game results to information@ushr.com.

Welcome to the New Season
First off, let us say that we hope to see many more coaches taking advantage of this site this season than in years past! We'd love to have you on board, and to that end we’ve done everything possible to make it as user-friendly as possible. So, if you are a coach and would like to get your school’s information on the site, but don't know how to go about it, please email us at information (at) ushr.com and we’ll get you set up.We have a large number of readers on the boy’s side. Among our subscribers are parents, players, fans, pro scouts, junior franchises, and just about every college that has an NCAA hockey program. A portion of the proceeds from the boys' side is used to keep the girls side going. It’s a little discouraging, though, to see one side going really well, and the other less so.
So let’s turn it around. Through USHR we can get the word out on the girls playing in New England prep schools, and also create a permanent record of the 2008-09 girls prep season, a digital keepsake players and their families can look back on in the years to come.
We really, really need coaches to upload their rosters/schedules/game results. We also need some volunteers who are not coaches. They can come from anywhere. Their primary assignment will be helping us keep the information up to date by making sure there are no missing results, and ensuring that the gaps in coverage are getting filled in. Anything beyond that is gravy.
Here are the schools that have uploaded their schedules thus far:

Coaching Position Available
If there is anyone out there who would like to get into coaching, there’s an assistant coach’s position available at a Boston-area high school that has suddenly become open. The pay is not great (surprise!) but the job could be a rewarding one as the girls on the team are great, fun kids. Please call 617-480-1755 or email information (at) ushr.com Thank you.
