Tuesday Morning Update

A quick update on some changes in the standings in the West after Monday’s games…Avon Old Farms and Berkshire continue to hold the #1-2 slots. South Kent, with its win over Choate, grabbed sole possession of the 3^rd seed. They now have 10 points (4+4+2).  Deerfield is in the 4^th spot (12 points) and Salisbury occupies 5^th, with 14 points (5+4+5). Hotchkiss, winners over Millbrook, is right on their tail, sitting at 6^th with 15 points (6+6+3).  As we look ahead to action this week, here are a few things to watch for, aside from who wins and who loses.  In the West, will Choate, Gunnery and Williston stay at or above .500?  Should any -- or all -- of them slip below that mark, games against those teams will no longer count as “quality” games and all of the contenders’ positions in the third criterion will be affected.  In the East, Andover’s chances will likely come down to its battle against arch-rival Exeter on Saturday.  Can you imagine the atmosphere if Andover needs that win in order to qualify? Of course, Nobles and Tilton are just outside of a playoff spot, looking in, and they need to win and hope for some help.  And keep this in mind: If Tabor beats KUA and NMH this week, they move above .500.  St. Paul’s, Exeter (twice), Andover, Cushing (twice), Nobles and Tilton all played Tabor this year.  How will the rankings in the 3^rd criterion (and overall) be affected if those games now count as quality games?  Will St. Paul’s loss to the Seawolves cost them a top seed?  Will Andover’s dramatic 9-8 come-from-behind OT win at Tabor push them over the top? Should be fun this week.
