Div. II Playoff Scenario

If you’ve been wondering how the Div. II playoff race stacks up… same here. That’s why we were pleased to receive this quite unexpected missive from Andy Lathrop, who is in charge of the Div. II tournament this season, replete with the latest numbers showing exactly where each team stands going into the games of this afternoon, Wed. 2/13.

They’ll look different tonight, but this should help all of us as we peruse today’s scores. 

The three criteria are:

1) winning percentage against all Div. II NEPSIHA opponents.

2) Winning percentage against Division II opponents with a winning percentage over .500

3) (Percentage of games versus Division II opponents with a winning percentage over .500) x (Winning percentage vs. Division II opponents with a winning percentage over .500)

One significant difference between Div. II and Div. I is the fact that Div. II just seeds the teams #1-8 regardless of geography – i.e. there is no east and west, which is not a bad way to go about it, at least in this typist’s opinion.

At any rate, if the season were to end at noon today, this is now things would stand.
