-- At Groton, Mass., #4 Belmont Hill held a 2-0 lead over Lawrence Academy… until the final minute of play, when Sean Buckley and Steven Whitney scored 38 seconds apart to send the game into OT where Lawrence won it 3-2 on a power play goal – John Simpson from the Whitneys. Joe Whitney (1g,2a) figured in all three of LA’s goals. Simpson (1g,1a) and Steve Whitney (1g,1a) each had two points. LA hasn’t lost a NEPSIHA game since 12/29 vs. Cushing. Bel Hill hadn’t lost a NEPSIHA game since Dec. 2 to Nobles.-- At Gill, Mass., PG forward Mark Collins (3g,1a) led the offense, and PG goalie Ryan Henry of Norwood, Mass. kicked out 47 of 49 to lead visiting Kimball Union over NMH, 5-2.
--At Simsbury, Conn., in a key Founder’s League game, #7 Westminster, needing to make a statement after their recent slump, did just that, knocking off #1 Avon Old Farms on an OT goal by Julien Boutet from David Earl. Tommy Cross (1g,1a), Nick Pitsikoulis (2a), and Ryan Riffe (1g,1a) each had two points for the Martlets. For the Winged Beavers, Brian Malchoff (2g) and Nick Bonino (2a) led the way. Avon squandered a 3-1 third period lead.
-- At Exeter, NH, Michael Doherty (1g,2a) and Conor Pieri (2a) led host Exeter to a 4-1 win over Holderness.
-- At Milton, Mass., Geoff Mucha scored on a breakaway with two seconds to go in the second period for the game winner as Milton edged Tabor, 4-1. In the end, Milton had to really hang on, killing two minors over the last 4:20 including a stretch of 6-on-4 when Tabor pulled the goalie. Mucha (2g), Brandon Nunn (3a), and Billy Donahue (1g,1a) led the way for the Mustangs, who, after starting the season with seven straight losses, are 4-1-1 in their last six, and 9-5-1 in their last 15.
-- At New Milford, Conn., an overtime goal by junior Nicholas Prokow, from senior defenseman Michael Perkins and senior forward Josh Rabbani, gave Berkshire a 2-1 win over host Canterbury. Junior Charlie Ogalin kicked out 30 of 31 to get the win for the Bears, while Caleb Luther was the hard-luck loser, stopping 39 of 41.
-- At Greenwich, Conn., in a much-anticipated Div. II battle, #2 Hoosac knocked off #1 Brunswick, 5-2. Brunswick jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first four minutes of play, but then the Owls took over, shutting down Hoosac the rest of the way while putting up a five-spot. Matthew David (2g), Shaun Sacco (2g), Andrew Stewart (1g,1a), and Sy Nutkevitch (2a) each had two points. Senior Blake Boyer stopped 33 of 35 for the win in the Hoosac net.
-- At Washington, Conn., #9 Gunnery rolled over Millbrook, 8-2. Adam Houli (3g,2a) and Tom Chiapetta (1g,3a) led the attack. Rich Nolan (2g), Evan Dietz (2a), Nick Izzi (2a), Jeff Buvinow (2a), and Rich Falasca (1g,1a) each had two points. Gunnery has one loss in its last seven games.
-- At Groton, Mass., Groton held the bully pulpit today in a 4-0 win over Rivers. Sophomore Julian Bloom picked up the shutout on 22 saves. Four different scorers found the back of the net.
-- At Wolfeboro, NH, Proctor, ranked #4 in Div. II, topped Brewster, 5-2. Ransom Gaby (2g), Ryan Ruddick (1g,1a), Dennis Silvio (2a), Will Compton (2a), and Tyler Violette (2a) led the Hornets attack. Josh Rosenholtz kicked out 23 of 25 for the win.
-- At Watertown, Conn., #5 Taft edged Kent, 2-1. Andrew Margolin kicked out 25 of 26 to pick up the win for the Rhinos; Junior Mike Milana took the loss for Kent, stopping 29 of 31.
-- At Deerfield, Mass., which always looks like a diorama to us, the Big Green kept alive their seven-game unbeaten streak, edging Andover, 4-3. Matt Rhone (2g), Merrick Friedman (1g,1a), Chip Daugherty (1g,1a), and Milton Lyles (2a) led the way.
-- At Lawrenceville, NJ, Lawrenceville the school beat Wyoming Seminary, 5-2. Liam Teer (2g,1a) led the L’ville attack, and Cody McKinney kicked out 25 of 27 for the win.
-- At Kent’s Hill, Maine, Matt Pedemonti scored a natural hat trick and Jon Glant stopped 22 of 24 shots to lead Hebron past Kent’s Hill, 4-2.
-- At West Roxbury, Mass., St. Mark’s topped Roxbury Latin, 5-2. Jeremiah Dargis (2g,1a), Kevin Erving (2a), Andrew Smith (2a), Nick Ciccolo (1g,1a), and Chris Cyr (2a) led the Lions attack. Nick Saltarelli stopped 29 of 31 for the win.
-- At Pawling, NY, #3 Salisbury unloaded on Trinity-Pawling, 7-1, outshooting them 49-23. Michael Biega (2g,1a), Adam Pawlick (2g,1a), and Nick Jaskowiak (3a) each had three points for Salisbury.
-- At Byfield, Mass., Brian Day scored a pair of goals in a 3-2 come-from-behind win over St. Paul’s. -- At Portsmouth, RI, Portsmouth Abbey bombed St. Thomas More, 10-1. Bryan Kriner (2g,1a), Pierce King (3a), Bryan Abraham (1g,2a), and Chris Thompson (2g,1a) each had three points.
-- At Stanstead, Quebec, Stanstead College edged New Hampton, 6-5. Joshua Vanasse (1g,3a) and Alex Gagnon Sckoropad (3g) led the Stanstead attack.
-- At South Hamilton, Mass., with the horses away for the winter, they’re playing hockey, and host Pingree beat North Yarmouth Academy, 2-0. Junior goalie Ben Bradley had a 19-save shutout for the hosts. Junior Eric Molie was the hard-luck loser for NYA, stopping 39 of 41.
-- At North Andover, Mass., Berwick broke open a 1-1 tie with three third-period goals to beat host Brooks, 5-2. Kyle Riffe (3a), Josh Richards (1g,1a), and Joe Perry (2a) led the Berwick attack.
-- At Dedham, Mass., #6 Nobles got a pair of goals from free agent Matt Marshall and defenseman Chris Steele chipped in with a goal and an assist to lead host Nobles past Thayer, 3-1.
-- At Middletown, RI, in an important Div. II matchup, #8 Middlesex beat #6 St. George’s, 3-1. Christian Ebert (1g,1a) led the offense and junior goalie Joe Delaney had 24 saves.
-- At Pomfret, Conn., visiting Cushing, ranked #2, rolled over Pomfret, 7-1. Matt White (2g,2a), Ryan Bourque (1g,2a), Broc Little (1g,2a), Ryan Warsofsky (1g,1a), Dave Warsofsky (2a), and Sean Coughlin (2a) were all big contributors to the Penguins attack.

At Greenwich, Conn., in a battle of Div. I power Loomis and Div. II power Greenwich Academy, nothing was resolved as the two teams battled to a 1-1 tie.Brooke Fernandez banged home the rebound of a Raylen Dziengelewski shot to put Loomis up 1-0 on a power play goal at 3:52 of the second period.
That’s where it stayed until Greenwich scored on a 5-on-3 power play at 11:23 of the third period. Katharine Pujol got the goal, with an assist going to Bray Ketchum.
Loomis outshot GA, 31-19.
-- At Simsbury, Conn., Westminster rolled on, eking out a 1-0 win over Gunnery on a first period goal by Jessi Waters.
Westminster outshot Gunnery, 33-7. Gunnery’s Jessica Cofrancesco kicked out 32 of 33 in a losing cause. Kayla Lessard made seven saves to pick up the shutout for Westminster.
-- At Pomfret, Conn., host Pomfret was blanked by Brewster, 2-0.
-- At Deerfield, Mass., Andover defeated host Deerfield, 4-1.
-- At Eashampton, Mass., Hotchkiss shut out host Williston-Northampton, 5-0.

-- At Tilton, NH, Exeter topped Tilton, 4-1. Sophomore Lauren Greer (3g), PG Carol Woods (3a), and junior Keely Corvo (2a) led Exeter’s attack.
-- At Watertown, Conn., a Brooke Fernandez third period goal lifted Loomis into a 2-2 tie with host Taft. After a scoreless first period, Taft’s Erin Barley-Malone and Loomis’ Lauren Ragen traded goals. In the third, Ashleigh Kowtoniuk gave the Rhinos a brief 2-1 lead before Fernandez tied it up. Jackee Snickeris had 26 saves for Taft and Kiera Kingston had 19 for Loomis.
-- At Greenwich, Conn., Greenwich Academy blanked Canterbury, 5-0. Bray Ketchum (2g), Libby Miner (1g,1a), and Ellie Castine (1g,1a) led the GA attack. Alexa Pujol, with 13 saves, picked up the shutout.

Lauren Ragen had a pair, and Kristen Regan and Alexa Gugliemi each had one.-- At Simsbury, Conn., host Westminster and Hotchkiss battled to a 4-4 tie. Sophomore Emily Walsh (1g,1a) and junior Nicole Palazzo (1g,1a) each had two points for Westminster. Junior defenseman Jenna Hobeika (2g) and junior Heidi Peterson (1g,1a) had two points apiece for Hotchkiss.
-- At Deerfield, Mass., Taft beat host Deerfield, 5-3. Junior Erin Barley-Malone (2g,1a), junior Ashleigh Kowtoniuk (1g,1a), and senior Heidi Woodworth (1g,1a) led the Rhinos attack. -- At Watertown, Conn., an Ashleigh Kowtoniuk goal at 3:53 of overtime gave host Taft a 1-0 win over Loomis-Chaffee. Geneva Lloyd and Heidi Woodworth picked up assists on the goal. Senior goaltender Jackee Snickeris kicked out 22 shots for the shutout, her third in a row.-- At Dedham, Mass., Nobles edged Brewster, 1-0.
-- At Pomfret, Conn., Kent and Pomfret skated to a 0-0 tie.
-- At Cambridge, Mass., Tabor edged host BB&N, 2-1.
-- At Andover, NH, Groton beat Proctor, 4-1.
-- At Washington, Conn., Westminster edged the Gunnery, 1-0.
From Monday night Jan. 15:
-- At Lakeville, Conn., in a game scheduled for Saturday at Loomis, but moved due to bad ice, Loomis defeated Hotchkiss, 3-2. Hotchkiss dominated the first period, but came up empty-handed. In the second, Loomis came out hard, scoring three goals in just over five minutes. Senior Lauren Ragen scored an unassisted goal to make it 1-0. She was followed by senior Liza Kelly, whose goal was assisted by sophomore Brooke Fernandez. Ragen got her second goal of the night to make it 3-0, from Raylen Dziengelewski. Hotchkiss didn’t score until midway through the third period when Jenna Hobeika scored to make it 3-1. Assists went to sophomores Alex Kinney and Jordan Brickner. That trio struck again to make it 3-2, with Kinney scoring from Brickner and Hobeika.

Deerfield Game Postponed Due to Teacher’s Death
Today’s scheduled Deerfield at Choate hockey game, and all Deerfield athletic events, have been cancelled due to the unexpected death of English teacher Jamie Kapteyn, who died last night playing indoor soccer at the school.
In addition to teaching English, Kapteyn, who was in his mid-forties and athletic, was a former athlete at Deerfield (class of ’79) and was an assistant girls varsity soccer coach and an assistant boys varsity lacrosse coach.

In the first game, Kasey Boucher and Teal Bishop scored and Kelsey Neumann picked up the win on a 16-save shutout. In the rematch, a Randi Zukas power play goal in the third period and a shutout by Nikki Parks was all NAHA White needed. NAHA outshot St. Laurent, 38-9. Clarkson-bound goaltender Eve Grandmont-Berube kicked out 37 shots for the Patriotes.

-- At Greenwich, Conn., Hotchkiss edged Greenwich Academy, 2-1. Corey Cooper and Aleca Hughes each scored in the second to put Hotchkiss up 2-0. A Bray Ketchum power play goal in the third pulled Greenwich to within a goal, but that was as close as they got. Freshman Alexa Pujol had 19 saves for Hotchkiss; Hilly Novik had 18 for Hotchkiss.

-- At Washington, Conn., Greenwich Academy topped host Gunnery 6-2. Julie Ireland (1g,2a), Katharine Pujol (1g,2a), Kelly Crane (2g), and Dani Schaevitz (1g,1a) led the visitors attack.
-- Due to the flu making the rounds of Stowe, Vermont, the NAHA White Team had to postpone today’s scheduled game at Taft.
-- At Saxton’s River, Vt., St. Paul’s topped Vermont Academy, 4-2.
-- At Middletown, RI, St. Mark’s beat St. George’s, 5-1.

With temperatures in New England expected to reach into the mid-60s on Saturday, scheduled games could be imperiled.
So far, one boys' team has switched venues due to the forecast, and there could be more.
