Thanksgiving Tournaments, Part II

Here are some additional Thanksgiving tournament/jamboree schedules. If you add these to the previous list (scroll down the page to prep news of 11/10), there will be seven schedules in total.

Please note that the Worcester Academy Jamboree listed below is not technically a Thanksgiving tournament – it’s this Sunday, Nov. 21 at UConn in Storrs, Conn.

When we get it, we’ll be publishing the schedule for Mike Addesa’s tournament – the Northeast Hockey Challenge. While that tournament is primarily made up of midget and junior teams, there are usually a few prep teams as well.

Please note: the St. Sebastian’s vs. Nobles scrimmage for Sat. Nov. 27 has both a new time and venue. Instead of being played at Nobles, it will now be played at St. Sebastian’s and will start at 1:00 pm, an hour earlier than the original start time.

Also, Cushing opens its regular season with a game on Sat. Nov. 27, hosting Gilmour Academy at 2:00 pm. They will also play Gilmour on Mon. the 29th at 10:00 am.

Posted Schedules/Rosters

We don’t want readers to spend valuable time scrolling the drop-down menus on this page for rosters and schedules that have not yet been posted.

So, thanks to a reader’s suggestion, we will provide daily updates on which schedules and rosters have been added.

As of this morning, coaches from the following prep teams have submitted their schedules and/or rosters.

This is way behind what the USHR boys prep page has posted. The boys game has been around longer, and USHR has been covering it longer, so that’s expected. But it would be great to give the girls game -- and its programs and player – equal publicity. For that, we need your help.

Schedules (7):

Brooks School

Hill School

Noble & Greenough

Pomfret School

St. Paul’s School

Taft School

The Winsor School

Rosters (2):

Noble & Greenough

Pomfret School

Notes: We do not post schedules and rosters – that’s up to the individual schools and coaches. We just provide, at no cost to the schools, a secure system whereby coaches are able to instantly input schedules, rosters, and box scores. If there are any prep coaches out there who didn’t receive our mass e-mailing earlier this month, please let us know, as that e-mailing contained all necessary information on uploading info to the site.

If there is any way we can be of technical assistance, please write admin (at) ushr.comFor hockey news and all editorial matters please email editor Chris Warner at cwarner (at) ushr.com or information (at) ushr.comPlease replace the (at) with the traditional @.

We will be adding in the remaining Christmas/New Year’s tournaments in the next day or so. .

Many prep schools have not, as of Monday, finalized their rosters.

Thank you.

’04-05 Prep Page Now Open

The ’04-05 girls prep page is officially open as of today. We welcome all coaches to enter their rosters, schedules, and, once the games begin, their school’s box scores. With strong participation, we can create an information center for coaches, players, parents, college recruiters and the whole girls hockey community. We will feature breaking news, game reports, box scores, a weekly poll, and a constantly updated list of any game cancellations and rescheduling inevitably brought about by New England weather. We hope to make life easier and more fun for anyone, and also provide an archive so that today’s players will have a history of their prep careers to show the next generation. These are all ways in which we can help grow interest in the game.

We are looking for interns – of any age – to help make the girls USHR Prep Page as successful as the boys. Interns from the boys side have graduated and gone on to work at campus newspapers, local dailies, sports information departments, and, in one case, student manager for the Boston College Men’s Hockey Team. If a job is done well, we provide letters of recommendation to potential future employers .

We are also looking for one or two people to serve as editor of the girls prep page. Ideally, this should be someone with editing, writing, and reporting skills who is also knowledgeable about the girls prep hockey world – or is hungry to learn.

Please contact Chris Warner at (617) 497-1659 or at information (at) ushr.comPlease replace the (at) with the traditional @.All hockey-related questions and questions concerning content should be addressed to Mr. Warner. All suggestions are welcomed.

For technical matters, such as questions about entering schedules, rosters, box scores, etc. please contact USHR’s Lead Developer/Webmaster Noah Cutler. His e-mail is admin (at) ushr.com and he can also be reached toll-free by phone at 877-587-1827.

We look forward to serving you.

Note:

Any holiday tournament schedules should be e-mailed to information (at) ushr.com and we will post it on this page. If you prefer to fax them, the number is (617) 492-2996. The snail mail address is U.S. Hockey Report; 1770 Massachusetts Ave., #195; Cambridge, MA 02140.
