Happy Holidays, as well, to all the prep girls coaches, and thank you for taking the time to upload your team's results. Without you, this section of the U.S. Hockey Report could not exist.

Please drive safely this time of year, and take the time to enjoy your family and friends. If you're playing in the Polar Bears Tournament, the Northwood Tournament, or just out at your local rink, have fun, play hard, and enjoy it.

Storm Warnings

There are two winter storms in the forecast that will affect travel to and from the prep tournaments. The first is for this afternoon/evening, a fast-moving winter storm which at its height could feature snow falling at the rate of  three inches an hour, which makes driving an ordeal. As for snow amounts, up to  12” of  snow is expected in the Hartford area and 6”-8” in the Boston area. Then, on Saturday night and into Sunday morning, a powerful Northeaster will affect the region. The exact track of the storm is uncertain, though. Please check your local weather, and drive safely. We value our readers!

Note:

Most of the above information is drawn from box scores uploaded by the schools. It’s a good way to get the word out about your program and players, so, if you enter the box scores, we’ll do the rest. If you wish to write a few sentences on a game, that would be great, too, but please remember to be balanced in your reporting and mention the other team’s successes as well. Thank you. Update on Rosters/Schedules

To date, 16 teams have uploaded their schedules to USHR. Here's the full list:

Andover, Brewster, Canterbury, Gunnery, Hill, Kent, Nobles, North Yarmouth Academy, Pomfret, Southfield, Stanstead College, Tabor, Taft, Thayer, Westminster, and Williston-Northampton.

And 16 schools have uploaded their roster. They are:

Andover, Brewster, Canterbury, Gunnery, Greenwich Academy, Hill, Kent, Nobles, North Yarmouth Academy, Southfield, Stanstead College, Tabor, Taft, Thayer, Westminster, and Williston-Northampton.

Thank you to all.

Naturally, we want more and, if you’re reading this, you probably do, too. We still hold out hope that the girls’ page can become what the boys’ site already has. (For purposes of comparison, 60 boys teams have uploaded their schedules, and 58 boys teams have posted their rosters. And then there are all the box scores on the boys’ site.)

We don’t yet know what the girls’ site will bring, but we have our hopes. However, we really need the girls’ coaches to help out the way the boys coaches have. That’s what makes the site go. This typist has put thousand of dollars into this page, just getting it off the ground. Last year, some extremely helpful people who love girls hockey, and believe in the value of the site were putting in rosters, schedules, and results from hundreds of different games, just out of love. However, we are much more comfortable with the schools putting in their own info -- it’s timelier, plus we also know that it is correct.

This site will become a real plus for the girls and the programs for which they play. The boys’ site is subscribed to by all the Div. I programs in the country, and numerous Div. III programs as well. The college coaches appreciate, among other things, the fact that there is one single place they can go to where there are rosters along with a consistently updated weekly composite schedule of all prep games. However, unless schools upload their schedules we will not have the raw date to make a meaningful composite.

Coaches, we really need your help. If you didn’t get the necessary info on how to type in your team’s date, please let us know and we will be happy to help.

We’ll do everything we can to keep this site alive. We want players and coaches to be able to look back 20-30 years from now, and see how they did, and who they played with and against. We want to create the historical record and we want it to be accurate. We don’t want the records to disappear into nothingness.

The goal here is simple. If the site can be built up with the help of the prep coaches, then, with the help of advertising and -- possibly down the line -- a modest subscription fee, we can hire someone to seriously cover girls hockey, someone who can really chase down stories, cover key games, write about top players and programs, do human interest stories, create a weekly poll, etc. etc. The framework is in place. We just need your help in lifting it to a basic level of subsistence.

Please call 617-480-1755 or email cwarner@ushr.com  with any questions.

Thank you.
